My name is Bridget Ballard-Cummins and as a Military Spouse after moving to Colorado Springs, my desire was to follow my dream and continue my journey as I achieved my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have a private practice located in the foothills of Colorado Springs, Colorado. You can reach me to setup an appointment at (719) 332-1246 or via email at [email protected].
Relationship Therapy is my expertise. As a Registered Psychotherapist I find it rewarding to work with clients that are motivated in seeking help to understand themselves and their relationships, while mindfully exploring value-driven goals. I believe in recognizing multiple paths of potential interventions such as, respecting each family member's orientation, affect, role and interactional patterns. My approach is respectful, collaborative, and client-centered. Since I specialize in Family & Couples therapy, I work with individuals by understanding how a person relates to others based on the patterns in relationships with parents. Family history taking is important. I will create a safe environment where you can heal emotional wounds and experience harmony.
Therapy requires specific training and education when treating issues such as families, couples and individuals. Interconnections can be complex, and I have a passion for understanding why we act and react as we do. I can make it easier to overcome the destructive cycles in which couples, families and individuals get stuck, and join them in gaining new insight into their problems. I integrate neuroscience-based therapies such as mindfullness and cognitive therapy to help develop flexible and adaptive resilience in order to establish effective interactions to secure the relationship.
As a therapist, I am well prepared to treat many common mental health issues while integrating psychoeducation, skill training and energy psychology. I join with men and women who want to gain coping mechanisms in order to manage their anger, anxiety and feelings of low self worth.
Interventions used: Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Couple Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, along with Feeling State Addiction Therapy. Issues addressed include Depression, Anxiety, Family Difficulties, Emotion Regulation, and Relationships, and Adjustment Disorders. I most commonly utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. However, each person is matched with techniques best suited to their needs. I will offer my assessments and formulations, and suggest strategies and interventions I think could be helpful.
Therapy hours are flexible to accommodate the client's work and personal lives. Clients pay the therapist personally. If requested, a diagnosis is sent to the client so that the client can file an insurance claim and be reimbursed.
